Most everyone can come up with some things to be thankful for, any given day of the year. I like Thanksgiving though, aside from the whole history of robbing the natives of their land, for two reasons: 1. The name of the holiday alone kind of forces one to pay attention to gratitude, and 2. It’s an excuse to get together and eat a lot. Which, if you’re from a clan like mine, is pretty much the gist of every family party, but still.
So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, here’s my expression of gratitude, in award speech form…
Oh my gosh, Wow! This is so AWESOME! Ahhh! (screams, then tears up) I have so much to be thankful for, I don’t even know where to start… Ok, first of all, mad props to god, for giving me the will. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! And thank you to my family, especially my mom, for raising me to be strong in the face of obstacles, and to have perseverance, and for giving me love and support all my life. And for making me a little crazy – haha! I wouldn’t be here without you! I love you more than words can say. To the love of my life, for sticking by me – you make it all worth, baby! I’m sorry I’m such a pain in the ass sometimes – thank you for putting up with me! And for good friends who keep me in their hearts and thoughts. Near or far, friendship knows no bounds – shout out to my OG’s! For HEALTH, for being safe, for having a job and a roof over my head that rocks, for moments of joy, for all the little things that make me smile. And most of all, I’m thankful I’m not a turkey – ouch!
Happy Thanksgiving y’all!
